Jurong Region Line has been launched today! 24 stations will be unveiled in phases in 2026 onwards. We can hear lots of Jurong, Bukit Batok and Choa Chu Kang residents heaving a sigh of relief now, especially new homeowners.
Who knew that our tiny little island could be home to 7 train lines? That’s incredible!
This new line is also a push towards developing Jurong Lake District into the largest commercial hub outside the CBD. Nearby, there is the newly-launched Jurong Innovation District, a next-generation industrial estate that is set to create jobs for Singaporeans.
How nice if the new homeowners can secure jobs in that area, instead of traveling all the way to town. Cross our fingers that businesses will want to set up in the Jurong area – big names, small names, from all industries!
For detailed locations of each station, please view our other blog post.
The JRL will open in three stages starting 2026:
- Phase 1 (2026): JRL (West) comprises 10 stations linking Choa Chu Kang to Boon Lay and Tawas;
- Phase 2 (2027): JRL (East) comprises seven stations providing connection between Tengah and Pandan Reservoir; and
- Phase 3 (2028): Extensions into NTU in the west and Jurong Pier in the south, completing the JRL (West) route.
Oh right. There will also be the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail on the way. It’s very exciting times for westies indeed!
